Thermal transfer

thermotransferFor the thermal transfer print a special plastic foil is used which is coated with a heat-sensitive colour. The plastic foil will be passed through the card and a thermal print head. This thermal print head has hundreds of computer-controlled heating elements which transfer the print image. When a heating element is piloted and its head is heated, the colour coat melts and is transferred to the card. Due to the smooth surface the colour is printed exactly and we reach an accurate quality. This type of print is easy to recognise due to a higher surface gloss than with other print methods. With the thermal direct print levels of grey in lower quality are possible. With this type of print – the thermal transfer print – continuous tones can only be rasterised transferred to the card, because the colour coat releases always completely from the plastic foil.

Due to the fact that all printouts on the used thermal transfer plastic foil are permanent readable, there exists a concrete risk for the data security for relevant-to-security applications at banks, industry and public authorities.

Thermal sublimation print Thermosublimationsdruck At the thermal sublimation print the pigments are evaporated by feeding heat. The pigments are fixed on a plastic foil. The state of the pigments change from solid state of aggregation gaseous state (sublimation). The gaseous pigments gets in the material which has to be printed. Depending on the energy fed to each printer dot, the amount of the transferred colour can be controlled (up to 64 gradations of each colour). In this way we can reach a high colour definition and brilliant colours.

Ink Jet / DOD (Drop on demand, ink-jet Printer) ink jet At the ink-jet print method the ink drop (only the ink which is actually used) issues from the print head through a nozzle. This jet is modulated by a piezo-electric modifier so that a steady decomposition of the individual drops is reached.

Embossing

  embossingFor the method of embossing the alpha numeric signs are hammered on the cards’ back side. At the front side the signs are uplifted and can be touched.
